What is an AGM battery?

The AGM battery is an energy storage battery with a wide range of commercial applications. It can power up toys, but also alarm systems. The AGM battery is also the heart of every UPS.

Application

Green Cell AGM batteries have a very wide range of applications. They can be used both for cyclic and buffer operation.

Cyclic work

Cyclic use of the battery means using it as an independent energy source. AGMs of this type are prepared for very frequent charging and discharging.

In this way they are used in wheelchairs, photovoltaic installations, golf carts, toys, lawn mowers.

Buffer operation

Buffer operation allows the battery to perform an emergency power supply function for the connected device. In case of a main power supply failure the battery connected to the power supply system provides additional power.

This is how they are used in alarm systems, UPS’s, cash registers or emergency lighting.

Maintenance-free operation

Batteries made with AGM technology are designed to ensure the highest possible level of safety during use. Special glass fibers ensure complete tightness of the batteries, which allows repeated charging and discharging of the battery without fear of losing its parameters. Thanks to the self-regulation function (VRLA valves) of the AGMy, they provide up to 5+ years of maintenance-free operation. It increases the safety of the device, regardless of the position of the battery.

Safety

AGM batteries are designed for to work inthe most extreme conditions. The glass fibres used make the electrolyte tightly closed in the casing, which allows the battery to be used in any position without fear of leakage. This is particularly important withrechargeabletoys, which are exposed to various types of shocks. This makes Green Cell AGM batteries fully safe for users.

      Frequently Asked Questions
How to choose and how to use an AGM battery correctly?
      View
Before choosing a suitable battery, check the parameters of the battery used earlier.
      Please pay particular attention to:
      Voltage (V), Capacity (Ah).
Also, compare the dimensions of the battery with your previous devices to be sure it will fit easily in the space provided. Comparing all these elements, you can make the purchase with peace of mind.
How to choose a battery for backup power?
      View
A well-chosen backup battery ensures that the equipment connected to it will work properly. To choose the right backup battery (UPS), you need to check the specifications of the UPS for which batteries (voltage (V), number (pcs ) and capacity (Ah)) have been installed and on this basis select batteries with the correct voltage and capacity.
A battery for yacht or boat - how to choose it?
      View
Every yacht or boat owner knows the importance of choosing the right battery. When buying a new battery, you should pay attention to the motor type, its dimensions and weight. AGM batteries for boats and yachts have been very popular for a long time. In our offer you will find many AGM VRLA Green Cell batteries that are ideal for yachts and boats!
Which battery for a toy car?
      View
AGM gel batteries are most commonly used in toy cars. The majority of them have dimensions of 151 x 65 x 95 mm and their voltage is 12 V. In our range you will find many Green Cell AGM VRLA batteries that meet these criteria. That's why you can easily find the right gadgets that can increase your child's playtime!
      What is an AGM battery?
      View
Our batteries are AGM VRLA batteries. What does that mean? The electrolyte is encapsulated in glass fiber separators and is not gelled.
Which battery for a mobile home?

How to choose a LiFePO4 battery and how to use it correctly?
      View
LiFePO4 batteries are devices that are very suitable as batteries for boats, yachts or photovoltaic systems.
What you should know when choosing the right battery:
      - The LiFePO4 battery has a voltage of 12.8 V,
      - It should not be connected in series or in parallel with other batteries due to the built-in BMS (Battery Management System)
The longest lifespan of a LiFePO4 battery can be achieved by ensuring that it operates at a temperature that is suitable for it, between -10 and +45 degrees Celsius.

What is the difference between AGM and LiFePO4 batteries?
      View
The main difference between an AGM and a LiFePO4 battery is that AGM - is the group of gel batteries and batteries with AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology is called VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead). Compared to traditional batteries, AGMs have up to four times the lifespan and number of cycles. This is due to the use of the aforementioned fiberglass material in the production of these products. Lithium Iron Phosphate (aka LiFePO4) batteries. Its structure consists of four cells connected in series. Each cell operates at 3.2V, giving a total voltage of 12.8V. One of the most important elements of this type of battery is an electronic management system (BMS).
Can the battery capacity (Ah) be higher?
      View
It is absolutely possible to use batteries with a higher capacity. The battery capacity is given in ampere hours (Ah). The higher the capacitance value, e.g. B. 80 Ah, the longer you can work with one battery charge, which increases your mobility and independence.
Which battery should you choose for my pontoon?
      View
When choosing the right battery for your pontoon, you should pay attention to the dimensions and weight. A pontoon is typically much lighter than a regular boat, so a battery that is too heavy can significantly slow down operations. The solution is to choose a LIFEPO4 battery, which thanks to its innovative design is significantly lighter than conventional gel batteries and therefore even easier to transport. The LIFEPO4's durability and reliability make them the perfect batteries for pontoons and many other vehicles, not just watercraft.
      Which battery for my camper?
      View
Lithium iron phosphate batteries (also known as LiFePO4) are characterized by high energy density and low self-discharge and are therefore very popular with RV owners. Their advantages are: low rate of discharge, high capacity, no memory effect, long service life and the ability to work at extreme temperatures (from -10 to +45 degrees Celsius).
